Bryant Park

Free People dress, Dolce Vita booties, Urban Outfitters bag, Topshop jacket, House of Harlow 1960 necklace

Bryant Park is probably one of my most visited places in all of NYC, so I thought it would be the perfect spot to take some blog shots, as I was in the city on Saturday seeing the new Idina Menzel show If/Then (p.s. it was amazing!!). Whenever I go into the city I try to be as comfortable as possible, and while you might think this outfit doesn't scream comfort, it is actually one of the coziest looks I own. This Free People dress is essentially an oversized cotton sweater, and I could walk miles in these booties and my feet won't ache. Definitely one of my go to outfits to transition from winter to spring. Hope you are all having a great week:)

Here Comes The Sun

Madewell dress and bobby pins, Rachel Zoe sandals, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and watch, Topshop ring

Just some wonderfully sunny shots from my quick trip to Florida last week.  Mixing gold and grey is one of my favorite pairings, and this outfit is so simple and easy; I wish I could wear it everyday.  I cannot wait for spring to get more use out of this dress.  But I am back in freezing New York, so for now I'm sticking to jeans, sweaters, and boots!

Have a great week:)

Crystallize

Madewell chambray top, Free People jeans and sweater, Urban Outfitters beanie, B Brian Atwood espadrilles, Tous ring

It has snowed three times in the past week, so I am definitely officially in the winter spirit.  I was suppressing it before, attempting to still get away with wearing t-shirts and cuffed boyfriend jeans, but I have given up and decided to start dressing cozy and warm.  I have been basically living in this oversized cardigan from Free People, and, as I mentioned in my last outfit post, my beanie obsession is at full force.  I love the juxtaposition of those two quintessential winter items with my summery denim look.

Sidenote, I never realized how much weather affects blog posts until now!  It has been snowing and gloomy and dark out and the ten minutes I spent taking these shots were the only sun I have seen ages.  How do bloggers manage to do daily posts when it is like this?! I commend you all.

Have a great week:)

Thursday Inspiration: Black and White

Sometimes I just have those weeks when I don't have time or the weather is not cooperating to take outfit shots and I have mountains of school work and after school activities and tests and my job and stress and ugh I just need a few hours to mindlessly browse Tumblr in search of inspiration to so something, anything.

I am having one of those weeks…months…years, whatever, so I took to Tumblr.  And what I noticed is that a large majority of my reblogs have been black and white recently.  There is just something so calming about b&w that has really been helping me these past few weeks.  And so here I am sharing them with you, because it has been snowing here in New York and the conditions just really don't make for good outfit shots.  Enjoy this random mix of photos and you can check out my tumblr here

Hope this inspired some of you or at least successfully distracted you for five minutes, which everyone needs sometimes:)

Brick by Boring Brick

Urban Outfitters sweater, Madewell pants, Tory Burch flats, Forever 21 beanie, Michael Kors watch, Tiffany & Co. ring

I have recently re-fallen in love with the song "Brick by Boring Brick" by Paramore.  I have been feeling a lot like the girl in the song lately (i.e. stuck in my own little world) and I have decided that I really need to stop doing that.  The title lyrics basically state that if you build a house "brick by boring brick" (take the safer and more boring route in life), you are less likely to get hurt and be crushed.  Being a senior in high school, it has been hard as of late to stop daydreaming about dream universities, dream jobs, dream apartments, etc.  But I am terrified none of those things are going to work out how I want them to, so I think I am going to stop dreaming up big, impossible fairy tale endings and start making smaller, attainable goals for myself so that I can achieve each little one instead of being crushed when the big one doesn't work out how I thought it would.  Thanks, Hayley Williams.

My little goal for today has been to get this blog post up before 4 pm.  And it is a surprisingly satisfying feeling to accomplish that, even though it is so small.

On a lighter note, guess who went black friday shopping and bought way to many things?! Yeah, it was me, good guess.  Two of the things I picked up were this sweater, which says je t'aime, meaning I love you in french.  The words are written in black ribbon and it was too soft to resist.  I also got this beanie which is surprisingly well made for Forever 21.  I now have a collection of 8 beanies and I am starting to think I might have a problem…

Anyway, I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving (and a lucky black friday/cyber monday), and have a great week!

All Madewell Everything

Madewell top, pants and ring, B by Brian Atwood espadrilles, Banana Republic headband, 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch

Not much time to write at the moment as I am currently drowning in homework (didn't someone, somewhere once say that senior year was supposed to be fun?), but I wanted to do a quick post in this look that I wore to school last week.  I have found that my wardrobe is quickly becoming primarily Madewell clothes (whereas, two years ago, it was 95% Free People).  I recognize that, in this post, my shoes are not Madewell, but believe me I do own three pairs from there that would have suited this look as well.  Not sure if my obsession is justified because their clothes are so beautiful or a problem because they are so overpriced. An ongoing dilemma.

Also, for reasons unknown, two of the videos on my YouTube channel were randomly deleted and re-uploaded by YouTube last night.  They both lost all of their views, likes, and comments, so I would really appreciate if you guys would click on these two links so I can get the views back to where they were before. Thank you!!
