Seasonally Confused

A few more quick shots from my upcoming fall lookbook video! I'm actually so excited to share it. These were taken in an unseasonably warm Union Square park, just by my dorm building (and I should probably say again that they were taken by my fantastic boyfriend who loves getting shoutouts on the internet). It was actually so difficult to get onto this ledge that he had to hoist me up like a child (in the chicest way possible). 

This is my absolute go to fall dress because I feel like, much like NYC's weather at the moment, it's a bit confused. It's meant to be a sweater but it's made of cotton so it's not that warm but it's still cozy but it's pretty short and has white lace which is sorta summery but it looks cute with boots and a jacket in the winter.  Basically everything you could ever want in a fall dress. I toughened it up with an army jacket and moto boots and you can now find me walking around the city in this outfit until winter comes (I wore it again today oops).

I know it's been a while, but you will have to forgive me as I have been in Alaska and had zero internet connection for over a week.  But I am back now and I am super excited about this outfit post because I also made a "get ready with me" video for how I put together my makeup, hair, and outfit for this look.   This is what I wore to the Fall Out Boy and Paramore "Monumentour" concert (side note: it was insanely good), and I think this is the perfect outdoor concert look.  I was so super comfortable and was able to have the best time wearing this.  Rompers are one of my favorite pieces for summer, and I definitely recommend Topshop for the best ones.  If you want to see the video (which you should because I worked super hard on it and I am really happy with it!), you can watch it here.  It includes how I did my makeup and hair, as well as my outfit of the night and some concert footage. Animal Lover

I feel like this dress is a really refreshing way of wearing animal print. I have never been the biggest fan of traditional animal print, but the animals represented on this dress are just adorable. It has some of my favorite animals: elephants, butterflies, penguins, and cheetahs! This dress is so super comfortable (just search "smock dress" on Asos for an abundance of them) that I have already ordered two more in the same exact style in different patterns. I think the shape and cotton material are perfect for summer, and I cannot wait to add to my smock dress collection.

All Madewell Everything

Not much time to write at the moment as I am currently drowning in homework (didn't someone, somewhere once say that senior year was supposed to be fun?), but I wanted to do a quick post in this look that I wore to school last week.  I have found that my wardrobe is quickly becoming primarily Madewell clothes (whereas, two years ago, it was 95% Free People).  I recognize that, in this post, my shoes are not Madewell, but believe me I do own three pairs from there that would have suited this look as well.  Not sure if my obsession is justified because their clothes are so beautiful or a problem because they are so overpriced. An ongoing dilemma. 

Also, for reasons unknown, two of the videos on my YouTube channel were randomly deleted and re-uploaded by YouTube last night.  They both lost all of their views, likes, and comments, so I would really appreciate if you guys would click on these two links so I can get the views back to where they were before. Camouflage

I have been having quite a busy month; I so miss be being able to do posts more often like I did in the summer.  Hopefully after school calms down in a few months I will be able to get back to writing more! I have been extremely busy with school and extracurricular activities, but I managed to squeeze in a few minutes to snap these shots after school the other day, mostly because I was having a really good hair day and just could not pass up the opportunity to capture that (as it is so rare these days!).  The other day someone messaged me asking me to actually make a tutorial on how I make my fishtail braids, so maybe I will try to do that soon (though I have never made a video before and I am not sure how I feel about you guys actually hearing my voice!).  I have watched loads of other people make tutorials so I think I will give it a shot. 

Over the weekend, I had about a million hours of work to do, so naturally, I went on a massive shopping spree.  I really liked all of the camouflage on the Michael Kors runway, and so I couldn't pass up these jeans from Madewell.  I tried to continue the military look with the tee, boots, and gold accents, and even the braid reminds me a bit of the army.  I have to get back to writing essays now so I beg you all to pray that I don't drown in textbooks and calculus formulas and stress and that I just make it through the next few months.  Hopefully next week I will have that tutorial for you:) Have a great week!

Smile Like You Mean It

With summer at it's midpoint, I realized the other day how happy and relaxed I am.  So I just wanted to wear something that made me smile even more, and I can never say no to a great floral print and my favorite color-purple.  I am also super into the reflective sunnies trend, and I like this slightly more subtle pair.  I got all dolled up-I even did my hair and makeup.  That's right; I finally got off my lazy butt and straightened my hair.  I know; you're just as shocked as I am.  It took a lot of hardship, blood, sweat, and tears, but after a half hour of washing, forty minutes of blow drying, and two hours of ironing (with an ice cream break to cool off, of course), I have finally tamed my hair for the first time in months.  And despite these pictures-which I am actually really happy with-I don't think I will be putting in the effort again any time soon. 

Of course, the day after these photos were taken, just as I was starting to relax and enjoy my summer, my schedule for my final year of high school was released and a new wave of stress and emotion has once again overwhelmed me.  Tomorrow, the common application-used to apply to the majority of universities in America-is being released, so I will probably spend all of august holed up in my room writing essays and freaking out.  

Despite the sudden stress, I had a really nice and relaxing July that has put a genuine smile on my face for the first time in a while.  I only hope august will go as smoothly.  How are your summers going?

Summer Uniform

I have always considered myself extrordinarily lucky that I don't have a school uniform during fall, winter, and spring, so I find it interesting that I have begun to develop something of a summer uniform.  I have noticed lately that (if I find the energy to even change out of my pajamas) I wear pretty much the same thing every day in the summer.  I always tell myself that I will get dressed up, then I end up just wearing what I usually do: cuffed jeans, a tee shirt, dainty jewelry, and a ponytail.  I prefer cuffed jeans to shorts for some reason and I always end up wearing a ponytail because that is how I wear my hair to work/I am usually too overheated and lazy to use any technology/products to change it.  I think I may try to break out of this uniform in the next couple of weeks but it is just so comfortable!  What are your summer staples?
