BOOM

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target sweater and bag, Madewell coated jeans, Topshop rings and earrings, Ash sneakers

I am actually a huge fan of the snow, but taking pictures in it is no easy feat.  Tomorrow I am off to Florida, so be prepared for a slew of blog pictures featuring palm trees, grass (I'm not even sure I remember what grass looks like at this point) and frilly dresses and sandals.  I'll likely be spending my time there stalking LFW runway shows instead of going to the beach, but at least I can do so lying by a pool instead of under the covers.  I'll be sure to report back on what temperatures in double digits feel like, as you've likely forgotten.  Have a great week:)

Let's Try Something New: Dark Lips

Madewell tee and sunnies, Free People corduroy jeans, Superga sneakers, Topshop jacket, beanie and rings, and Lionette NY necklace

I am one of those people who absolutely despises when anything changes.  I don't like starting a new school year, a new job, a new tv show. I don't even like changing the way things are organized in my room. I just like to stick to the old, the comfortable, the method of living that I know won't have a negative outcome.  Now, changing a lipstick color doesn't exactly seem like an extreme change, but considering I absolutely despised lipstick until about last year and since then have only worn neutral shades, this might as well be a complete life overhaul for me.

Seeing as this is new territory, I made sure to do my research.  I read a lot of blog posts and watched a lot of videos on how to wear a dark lip, and I found a lot of conflicting opinions. One of the most helpful was Michelle Phan's video on dark lips for different skin tones. However, I was still cautious, so I decided to go for a drug store brand instead of a more high end product in case something went horribly wrong.  I ended up mixing together Maybelline's Super Stay 14 Hour lipstick #100 'Wine and Forever' and Maybelline's Color Whisper #85 'Berry Ready'.

Against my mother's wishes (which she knew I would completely ignore anyway), I wore the lipstick to school last week with this exact outfit and actually got a lot of compliments.  I think I might even wear it out again.  I would say, overall, my dark lips experiment was a success.  Have you tried anything new lately?

Hey Mickey You're So Fine

Urban Outfitters tee and beanie, Madewell jeans, Ash sneakers, 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch

Before you say anything, I know I haven't posted anything in seventeen days and I know that that is terrible blogger etiquette and I apologize.  I could give you the same spiel about having school work and college applications and swim meets and clubs and blah blah blah but you have already heard that enough times so instead I'll just lie and say my laptop was epically but tragically stolen by a technologically savvy monkey whilst I was traveling on a safari in North Africa and I have since gotten a new one and so the blog posts will continue from now on.

Back to the photos. Am I the only one who prefers men's tee shirts?  I got this one in the guy's section of Urban Outfitters and it is the softest tee I have ever worn.  Plus it was like a third of the price of a similar women's version and twice the cool.  It's unfair really.  Usually I stick to my men's purchases online to avoid stares, but this time I walked right over to the men's tees and picked up this shirt with the utmost of confidence (I may be leaving out the part where I checked to make sure no one was staring at me and how I scurried away awkwardly whilst hiding the tee).  Baby steps, people.

Also, you can't tell, but these jeans are actually black-coated denim, and I am pretty sure they are the coolest pants I have ever bought.  Madewell, you have once again roped me in and my bank account has yet to forgive you.  I also never got to explain the madness I experienced trying to get some of the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection but, among other things, I managed to get not just this faux Pashli bag, but also a boom! sweater, so I basically won the lottery of Target collections.  Not to brag or anything, but I am pretty proud of what I acquired considering the wrath of hungry Ebay sellers desperately fighting with me for the entirety of the collection.

I must get back to my dreaded essays now but I will hopefully post again later this week.  I have not forgotten about the fishtail braid tutorial request, so that may be coming soon (fingers crossed I can figure out how to properly edit and upload a video).  Thanks for sticking with me through this hectic time in my life!

p.s. Sorry these shots are a bit dark and blurry but I desperately wanted to post something today!

Back to School

I am not one to get excited about a new school year, but I feel the need to at least address the topic as this is my final year of high school.  My 12 exhausting years of education are finally coming to an end, and I can start to take classes I am actually interested in at college.  Don't get me wrong-I love learning, but I have never thought of high school as "the best years of my life" and I certainly won't miss it.  I am someone who gets themselves very stressed even over small assignments, and with college applications as well, this year will definitely be tough.

I am, however, extremely excited for fall fashion.  I have always preferred winter clothes over summer ones, not just becuase I prefer to be cold, but because it is so much more comfortable and more chic to wear jeans, booties, and an oversized sweater than boring shorts and a tee.  I have always found it difficult to remain fashionable over the summer, when even a bathing suit feels like too much clothing in this heat and I can barely be bothered to get out of pajamas.  Autumn is a time for beautiful colors and rich fabrics, and I have been loving some of the looks on the runway for fall.  Even if I am dreading the start of school, I am certainly looking forward to ditching my sandals for some leather boots.

I wasn't quite sure if I should post my "back to school outfit" because at my school all of the graduating seniors wear our senior shirts on the first day, so there is not much room for a fashionable interpretation.  Most people adorn their looks with whistles, beads, high socks, and face paint, but I have never been one for school spirit, so I just piled on the jewelry and added a touch of school spirit with my red shoes.  What is your go-to back to school look?

I actually had a great first day of school on tuesday, but I am currently enjoying my long weekend for the Jewish holidays.  L'shana Tova to everyone celebrating!
