What I Wore: #NYFW

With fashion month in full swing, it seems appropriate to share with you what I wore to nyfw.  I only went to one event: a makeup press event for Birchbox held in Chelsea Market.  I was pretty disheartened to learn that there would be no Fashion's Night Out this year (I have gone to the last 3), but I am just as happy enjoying the chaos from behind my computer screen via live streams as when I am actually emersed in it (okay that may have been a lie to make myself feel better but can you blame me?).

With school, I have been having a hard time keeping up with the shows, though twitter and instagram have certainly helped.  I noticed a big trend with black and white (which I am super excited for), colored lips (not really sure I can pull that off), low ponytails (definitely cannot pull that off), and cooky prints (I'll attempt).  One of my favorite shows so far has been Alexander Wang, but it could just be because of his adorable and super chic niece (google her if you haven't already).  Hopefully by next fashion week I will be a little less stressed with school and can go into the city a bit more!

Anyway, I wore this look to the event, which was awesome by the way.  There was a bunch of makeup, hair, and nail stations set up, as well as candy, a photo booth, and a chance to make my own birch box with sample products.  I spotted some cool people outside of the event, and had a bit of a fangirl moment when I walked past Jenna Lyons.

It was pretty hot out the day I went in (sunday), so I opted for a loose fitting dress that I impulsively got the day before at Bloomingdales.  These booties are actually two years old (oops) but they are still the most comfortable shoes I own, and comfort is (even if people won't admit it) sort of essential for surviving fashion week.  And no, I did not suddenly become competent at styling my hair and applying makeup; I had a hair cut the day before and I had my makeup done at the Stila counter at the Birchbox event! What is your go-to look for fashion week?

Free People jacket and dress, Lucky Brand booties, House of Harlow 1960 necklace, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch

Enjoy the rest of fashion month!
